First priority when buying a door should be quality.

Specialty Doors come custom made, some carved with nature scenery, which is a popular item for rustic homeowners. A door can be a significant artistic statement establishing the character and integrity of your house.

Solid wood for an entry door is a popular choice, a solid wood door is a more costly, but for many homeowners the cost is worth the extra security feeling. Many wood species are available, however pine is primarily used. Its quality is good and the cost is reasonable. Pine is a softwood and it will show the nicks and signs of use.

Oak is darker, heavier and less vulnerable to wear and tear and a little more costly, Oak can be bleached or pickled for a lighter color. Mahogany is an excellent choice and blends well with a Western Red Cedar log home and makes your door a focal point.

In a time where so many corners are cut to save money, quality doors are always a good value. Don't overlook the significant part that hardware plays in the appearance and ambiance of your rooms. The hardware you choose should complement your style, round, oval or more sculptured.
