The Perfect Log Home - where old time
craftsmanship meets modern construction techniques.
The Perfect Home! Why?
Welcome to Trails End Log Homes. One of the advantages in owning a beauitful log home is heating and cooling which enables you to save up to 30% over standard homes. The logs store heat as well as restrict it flow. This particular home also has very good air infiltration rate and also controls the humidity in your home unlike fiberglass insulation which stores moisture that reduces its effectiveness. (These factors affect performance, but are not reflected in the laboratory - rated "R - value" for fiberglass insulation.)
Approved for both FHA and VA financing - Our Logs are one of the select few log home manufacturers qualifying for a HUD (US government) S.E.B. number. This increases appraisals and appreciates your home in value over the years.
Earthquake and hurricane resistant - on October 17, 1989 the Loma Preita earthquake near San Francisco destroyed just about everything with a 7.4 rating. Four of these homes, same as TELH, near the epicenter sustained no damage. In Florida's 180 mile hurrican winds, log homes were the only thing left standing and habitable in some areas. That is what makes log homes one of the safest homes on the market!
Easier upkeep - the design of the log using a Swedish cope with a tongue and groove and a drying saw kerf
creates a home resistant to all kinds of weather. This also makes our log homes easier to maintain.
Pre drying to 15% moisture content allows for a tight home without chinking and very little settling. In 23 years of building this home Trails End Log Homes, Dan Barnett, has never had to go back to this home and repair or replace logs or trim due to shrinking, settling, cracking, warping, twisting, or ay other problem caused by the logs.
Excellent white wood species with Lodge Pole Pine makes the difference. Although Trails End Log Homes supplies many other species of log, this one is the best. It has a higher R rating as compared to .80 for others and because it is slower growing it has less sap wood than fir or cedar. This means less shrinking and therefore less cracking.
Builder Friendly: (1) The logs can be erected by hand, eliminating any large equipment. (2) An 8' log wall is equal to a standard 8' stud wall in height. This saves you money on log courses. (3) Sense these logs are kiln dried to less than 16% there is little or no settling to worry about. (4) All cutting to exact lengths and drilling are done at the factory reducing on site labor. (5) Sense the through bolt system is used the tendency for cracking by spiking is eliminated along with extra construction time. (6) Erection of the log walls is fast and easy. In most cases a 2000 sf ft home takes 4 carpenters 4 days to stack the log walls. In conclusion this home is safer, more energy efficient, easier to maintain, easier to build and costs about the same as a standard custom home. What more could you ask for?
