Take a walk through our log home.
As you enter the private estate you proceed up a private, nicely landscaped and well-maintained gravel drive that winds 1/4 of a mile to the main house. The drive ends at the double garage with a large turn-around area. The easiest entrance into this beautiful home and easiest method when showing is to walk directly through the garage through the door leading to a large deck that steps down to the back door of this country log home. Enter the house through a spacious “mud room” which also hosts the laundry and country pantry. To the left a spacious kitchen. The open kitchen and dining area flow easily into the Living Room again providing comfort and “hominess” that is often hard to find. The kitchen floor is hardwood and the kitchen sports an island for both cooking and informal bar height casual eating.

Beyond the kitchen you enter the rustic living room with beamed ceiling and vent less gas stove. Beautiful hardwood floors gleam in the sun and the tongue and groove walls and ceiling make for a wonderful country feeling. From the living room you step out onto a very scenic deck to barbeque your next meal or just watch the sunset over Alexander County. The year round views are tops and always changing. Beginning with the birth of new life in the spring, a beauty of plush green textures all summer, the colorful yellows and reds of fall and then the stately stark bare trunks and branches of winter, and when lucky the beauty of a fresh white blanket of snow.
The builder is credited with the smart design of this beautiful log home. Incorporating the popular open floor plan and split bedroom design for family entertaining while optimizing privacy.

Everyone knows log homes are the “Cadillac” of comfort, and this is truly evident in the oversized Owner’s Suite and bath. Surrounded by warm pine walls, this room currently is home to substantial pieces of furniture with plenty of room for a king sized bed and sitting area.

Going to the right, you will go downstairs to the basement and enter a very comfortable den, and the children’s bedrooms divided by a Jack and Jill bath, which was very well thought out. Also the basement houses another terrific office space or workshop whichever one desires.

Here are some other features important to this quality built home:
30-year architectural shingles, 2 separate heat pumps – one is a 5 ton for the upstairs and one is a 2 ton for the basement area. There is also a 350-gallon propane that supplies the gas log unit. The home is secured with CPI Security to cover theft, fire and smoke. There is a dish network and the Internet is available. The treated logs have a 25-year warranty.
This property is truly one of a kind. All of this private country living is only 10 minutes to Taylorsville and the high school, 10 minutes to the middle school, and 20 minutes from Hickory, 15 minutes to Lenoir and only 3 minutes to the grade school. And the Alexander county school district is superb. A company called ‘GDS’ will pick up your trash; however, one of many county convenience centers for recycling and trash is only 1 mile away.
About the Construction:
Each log is individually cut, processed and numbered. Logs are kiln dried for thicker walls that experience minimal shrinkage. This particular kit used the saddle notch method, which is double tongue and groove white pine logs with a flush corner system, where logs are notched from the bottom as opposed to the side. Corners are solid sealed for an airtight wall. A home built using the Saddle Notch log has the appearance of a traditional western log home. Logs extend just beyond their intersection and create a sealed corner that makes a solid visual statement. The logs are treated with insect repellent and stained. Logs are stacked with their tongue and groove system along with strips of foam between each log. They are also held together with 9 inch screws every 3 to 4 feet and of course the logs are caulked both from the inside and outside and at all joints. The poured basement slab is approximately 10” thick, with ¾” rebar every 18 inches. The basement walls are 12” cement blocks, and a couple extra rows were added for additional height. As the owner/builder remarked, “Everything has been a bit over built to provide strength, efficiency and security.”
Special Features of the 22.2 Ares: All of this is combined within your own private, 22.2 acre get-away, surrounded by Mother Nature’s woodland, a beautiful pond that is spring fed, which is approximately 80’x45’ stocked with catfish, grass carp and sunfish. (Two miles away, fish can be ordered and monthly deliveries are made.) For additional comfort at the pond there is an 8’x10’ building and a 20’x24’ shade awning. There is also a small barn that is currently used to shelter a few goats, on approximately 3 acres of fenced pasture. The fence is electric and there are also electric features in the barn. This would be easily enough pasture for a horse.

Also featured on the property is a combination two-car garage of same construction with a very comfortable and partitioned work center/office, which is heated, and also has a half bath. Additionally this building has it’s own heat, a propane line and airlines, telephone hookup, dish network and a separate electric meter. There are two additional storage or utility buildings on the property. One is 12’x16’ with attached single carport, the other is 8’x12’ with an additional attached single carport. There are 2 water wells on the property, of course one provides delicious drinking water for the home and the other is for the barn and animals.
This is truly a very special offering.
