This residence has 3 levels, 4 bedrooms & 4.5 baths ... and is constructed of northern red pine logs from Maple Island Log Homes, massive NC stone native to the area, and old growth hickory flooring. The Daylight Basement is the perfect place for entertaining and can be accessed via the tower steps from above or from the basement outside doors. This lower level has a large entertainment room, an out of the way reading room, billiards & game area with wet bar, guest bedroom with full bath, large laundry room with dumbwaiter transport and access to all upper floors, and last but not least, the Tuscan inspired wine cellar.
The Wine Room was inspired by the old world Italian, Tuscan wine vaults. The sensational design and master stone & brick work will leave you awestruck. With storage space for at least 1000 bottles, it features an automatic sliding glass door with access control keypad, LED lighting in all the wine cubbies, house intercom & sound system, wet bar, as well as an aqua-cooled, dedicated temp & humidity unit.
The Upper Level offers two bedrooms with bathrooms en suite. Each of the bedrooms has a unique loft, perfect for a children's play or sleeping area ... or maybe just extra storage space.
The Master Suite consists of two rooms divided by a two sided fireplace. A large 20' X 17' bedroom, along with a 14' X 15' adjacent sanctuary area, which can be used for a dressing area, office or reading room. The suite is essentially two complete areas divided by a great see-through masonry & stone fireplace. The perimeter walls are log and the interior walls are of select cherry & walnut. His & hers walk-in closets are also crafted from antique cherry and walnut, as are portions of the master bath. The walk-in master spa & shower is natural stone & Travertine with a luxurious 3-way shower system and stained glass windows.
The Stair Tower is an engineering marvel. It is constructed of an 8" reinforced concrete center with 6" of stone both on the interior and exterior ... a 20" thick structure providing access to all 3 levels of the home. The iron handrails and spindles, formed in the design of mountain laurel, were hand forged and crafted by renowned blacksmith artist, Lynda Metcalfe. The roof support beams of the tower come from massive timber beams that were reclaimed from a 'days-gone-by' Tobacco Factory in Rockingham, NC, that was over 150 years old when taken down. The heartwood pine that the beams were originally cut from, exhibit growth rings that easily add another 100+ years to their history. In addition to the tower's copper roof support system, the entire staircase was cut and constructed from these historic wooden beams.
The Dining Area debuts open, long range & inspiring views of Mother Nature with three full walls of architectural windows providing a 270 degree view of the Tusquittee Mountains.
Designer Gourmet Kitchen reminiscent of old world handcrafted artistry, created for beauty and functionality with a massive stone hearth infusing the home with warmth, and perfect for family gatherings. This kitchen is a chef’s dream, with chiseled edge granite, professional grade stainless steel appliances, hickory flooring and designer lighting. The custom hood over the open 48" Viking range is one of the home's highlights and is custom iron art at its finest, engineered for functionality with controlled make-up air from behind the range-top supplied and synchronized with exhaust air pulled by the hood insuring that inside pressurization levels remain equal.
The Great Room (27' X 25') is the center of this mountain estate home and boasts a stunning 28' ceiling-height, double sided stone fireplace, a 54” Meyda Tiffany chandelier, integrated programmable low voltage scene lighting, an upper level catwalk, front door welcome foyer, and entrances into the stone tower leading either to the upper or lower levels. The room opens to an outdoor covered deck with inspiring views of the mountains. The deck is constructed from red pine logs and imported Brazilian Epay exotic hardwood.
